Job Title: Innovative Learning Coach

Summary

The Innovative Learning Coach (ILC) collaborates with teachers and administrators to effectively integrate technology, creating engaging and evidence-based learning experiences focused on mastering content, developing durable skills, and fostering essential attributes. The ILC is responsible for training all licensed professionals, administrators, and instructional assistants in instructional technology while also working directly with students to enhance their understanding of the current technologies and programs offered by PCPS. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of K-12 instructional practices, principles, and techniques of instructional technology, as well as project planning and current and emerging trends in the field. They should possess the ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, be self-motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to helping teachers improve their technology skills. A genuine enthusiasm for supporting others in their professional growth is essential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Collaborates with the Innovative Learning Specialist, Instructional Specialists, Instructional Coaches, and Classroom Teachers to plan and implement technology-driven instructional strategies that enhance student performance in core academic areas.
• Works closely with teachers, staff, and administrators to design and deliver innovative, technology-integrated lessons.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to leverage data for impactful instruction and intentional, meaningful technology integration.
• Leads the implementation of VDOE digital learning integration standards.
• Provides instructional coaching to teachers, individually or in small groups, to meet specific instructional goals and needs.
• Partners with instructional specialists and teachers to develop technology-based remediation and enrichment programs.
• Evaluates, implements, and trains staff on new instructional software and tools.
• Designs and delivers staff development programs to enhance classroom instruction through effective use of technology.
• Creates and maintains a year-round schedule for technology training and professional development, including summer sessions.
• Leads and mentors school-based innovative learning ambassadors, conducting training as needed.
• Plans and facilitates school-based innovation committee meetings.
• Stays up-to-date on emerging trends in educational technology.
• Shares expertise in innovative and instructional technology with all school personnel.
• Frequently presents to staff, parents, and students in informational or instructional settings.
• Attends and presents at professional development conferences such as VSTE, ISTE, and GRAETC/EdTech.
• Participates and contributes as a valuable member of GRAETC.
• Regularly reviews and updates the technology curriculum to reflect new advancements and content.
• Collaborates on the review and revision of core curricula, recommending ways to integrate valuable technology tools.
• Models instruction for teachers by co-teaching classes or leading small group lessons.
• Utilizes problem-solving skills to troubleshoot software programs, ensuring consistent access to technology tools for teachers and students.
• Edits school websites based on school administrator requests while ensuring alignment and consistency across the division.
• Creates documents, help videos, presentations, and a variety of media to support small and large group learning.
• Travels and works across all five schools in the division.
• Collaborates effectively with others, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive and helpful attitude, and a strong commitment to digging deep to solve complex problems.
• Exhibits excellent decision-making abilities, utilizing analytical and perceptive skills.
• Demonstrates strong reading and writing skills
• Occasionally works with mechanical and electrical equipment in confined spaces, sometimes near dirt or dust.
• Operates computers and related peripherals across various settings.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

 

Qualifications

Must possess the qualities and personal characteristics essential for building strong, collaborative relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. This includes empathy, active listening, clear communication, adaptability, and a solution-oriented mindset, all of which contribute to a positive and productive educational environment. Understands the importance of empowering others with knowledge to transform instruction within individual classrooms.

 

Education and/or Experience

Hold a Collegiate Professional License.

Have at least three years of teaching experience.

Must be fluent in Google products, assessment platforms, learning management systems, and other core software and technologies. 

Preferred: Instructional coaching experience; Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction

 

Language Skills

Is articulate and able to adapt communication and presentation styles to effectively engage all stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, parents, professional colleagues, and students.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of school staff.

Possesses a commitment to continuously updating personal knowledge of cutting-edge technology and selecting advancements that will enhance instruction and student learning.
